Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies on Elijah’s ‘Terrifying’ Fate and ‘Hell to Pay’ With Elena

The Vampire Diaries - Elena & ElijahOn The Vampire Diaries last week, witchy Esther set in motion a clever scheme to take down her dastardly son, Klaus: She bound all of the Original siblings together with a spell, so that if one of them were to be taken out, they would all die. This sort of mass annihilation would send panic into the heart of any fan of the CW series (airing Thursdays at 8/7c), but Elijah’s portrayer, Daniel Gillies, tells TVLine that he’s “never concerned” about his job security.“At this stage, I’m a veteran of death,” he quips. “I’ve died four time on this show alone.”

Mind you, that doesn’t mean Elijah is just going to lie down and give up. “Obviously, he’s not going to be terribly happy about” the spell, previews Gillies. “They’re now bonded in potential death. It’s going to be pretty terrifying.”

So much so that, if there’s one thing the usually moral vampire knows, it’s that now “[Esther] needs to be taken out,” continues the actor. Easier said than done, with a sorceress that powerful! But the Michaelson brothers – Elijah, Klaus, Kol and Finn – and sis Rebekah might be able to get the upper hand on Mom if they join forces. “When a collective of people know they could potentially die, it makes them powerful,” explains Gillies.

“I’m really eager to look at that kind of unity between them, because it’s exciting for me when I watch the Originals working together,” he adds. “They look like a new television show.” (Yes, he’s aware of the fans’ pleas for an Originals spin-off and says he’ll do “whatever they tell me. I’d love to be a part of something new like that.”)

As for Elijah and Elena’s blossoming friendship, “there’s going to be some hell to pay there,” teases Gillies. After all, she handed over her blood for the spell, which “led him to the gallows in a sense. She really didn’t hesitate to betray him.”

But perhaps the biggest threat to Elijah’s life is new TV project which “starts [filming] in a month or so,” says the actor. When we voiced our concern about what the potential new series means for his Diaries alter ego, he assured us that he could do both shows. “When I’m shooting [Saving Hope], it’s in the off season of The Vampire Diaries,” he explains, adding, “And I can always come back. … Wild horses couldn’t drag me away from The Vampire Diaries.”

Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder Talks About His…Kids?

Ian Somerhalder

Who knew Ian Somerhalder had a gaggle of little ones running around at home?

But he does.

However, he's not sure how many he actually has...

We're talking about his cats, people!

"I've got a number of them," Somerhalder told me earlier today, "and sometimes that number fluctuates because there will be a rescue that's fostered a little bit. There's a lot of fur."

Somerhalder is definitely one of the animal kingdom's best friends. So much so, I can exclusively tell you, the Humane Society of the United States will honor him with the Wyler Award at their upcoming Genesis Awards gala on March 24 at the Beverly Hilton hotel. (Ellen DeGeneres and Sir Paul McCartney are past recipients.)

But Somerhalder is no crazy cat person taking in every stray feline that comes his way. "Ideally, I need to get them to a clinic first," Somerhalder said. "There's an amazing clinic here in Atlanta, Pets Are People Too. These guys take care of all my animals. We get [strays] there and get them healthy because I don't want to take them back to my pride and get my kids sick."

With his recent Entertainment Weekly cover and PETA's appetite to get celebrities to take their clothes off, we're sure that animal rights group will be after him, too—if they're not already.

Somerhalder laughed, "Being naked is good."

The Vampire Diaries’ Candice Accola: Tyler and Caroline Are Teammates

School's finally back in session on The Vampire Diaries.

"You're going to start seeing these characters back in the high school atmosphere and a little bit more in their age-bracket element," Candice Accola tells TVGuide.

On Thursday's episode, "The Reckoning," Caroline (Accola) gathers Elena (Nina Dobrev), Bonnie (Kat Graham), Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) for Senior Prank Night to kick off the Mystic Falls school year. Of course, there are some problems along the way. "Sometimes you intend on a prank going one way, but then the rug is pulled out from underneath you and goes completely the opposite," she hints.

Caroline just wants to have a bit of fun after all she's been through. Between turning into a vampire, helping her friend transition into a werewolf and trying to save another friend from the most evil Original vampire in the world, Accola says, "She feels a newfound responsibility to protect the people around her. That has been one of the qualities that have really grown within Caroline from her transition into becoming a vampire."

The Vampire Diaries Bite: Will Jeremy come clean to Bonnie?

Caroline has also found a handsome shoulder to lean on in friend turned friend-with-benefits Tyler Lockwood. "What I love about the Tyler-Caroline [relationship] is that it stems from a place of friendship and notion of, 'I have your back and you have mine.' They're teammates in a sense," she says, adding: "Even though they've had to emotionally evolve, they're still in high school, so who knows how long the relationship will last?" And perhaps the arrival of Klaus' sister Rebekah (Claire Holt) might also throw a wrench between the twosome. "[They] begin to interact and larger plans start to evolve and ... you might start to see characters have to be amicable with a possibility for friendship, but just as much a possibility that it's all a ruse and not for the greater good," Accola says.

And now that both Sheriff Forbes and Mayor Lockwood are aware that their kids are not only opposing supernatural species, but hooking up, will they try to stop them? "There's definite opportunity for The Council to spring up and the pot to be stirred from the parental perspective, yes, but have we explored that at this point? No," she says.

And speaking of parental figures, viewers recently met Caroline's disapproving father. Although some people wonder if his hatred for vampires stems from a relationship to the newly introduced vampire hunter (played by Sebastian Roche), Accola shoots down that theory. "That's reaching pretty far. You never know ... but at this point that's a pretty far reach," she says.

Still, last week's episode might not be the end of his arc. "We're going to see more of Caroline's father," she says. "When that's going to happen I have no idea, but I don't think that's the last of Daddy Forbes."

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

‘Vampire Diaries’ scoop: What the Jeremy twist means for season 3

When Jeremy (Steve R. McQueen) was suddenly able to see his dead exes, Vicki and Anna — after witch girlfriend Bonnie resurrected him in the season 2 finale of The Vampire Diaries – was crowned the Single Most Clever Twist by readers in EW.com’s annual Season Finale Awards. So where do we go from here? “When we come back to see him at the beginning of the season, we’ll see that he still hasn’t had any success figuring out what it is that they want, or understanding even what it is that they are,” exec producer Julie Plec tells EW. “We’ll see that maybe he’s been keeping this a secret, that nobody else is aware of what he’s been going through, and that his behavior has changed quite a bit and people are starting to wonder if he’s perhaps getting back into some old bad habits. When in reality, he’s just trying to figure out why the hell he’s being haunted by his dead girlfriends.”

The mystery will continue for a handful of episodes; then we’ll get some answers in an hour that EP Kevin Williamson describes as “the climax of the haunting of Jeremy” in October. “Are they there for good? Are they there for bad? It will once again be another twisty story,” he says. “It’s gonna take a lot of turns and also involves some unlikely participants.”

Plec continues the tease. “We’re gonna have some fun with Vicki and Anna and start to really reveal the secrets of why they’re here, what they want, and who else they have access to from our past,” she says. So we may be seeing more of the show’s dearly departed? Fingers crossed. “That’s the most beautiful part of our show,” Plec says, “just because somebody faces their demise in our world, doesn’t mean we’ll never get to see them again.”

As for what Jeremy’s situation means for Bonnie, we’ll get to see her dealing with a new kind of drama. “Because of her love for Jeremy and bringing him back to life, she’s given him access to two people who were very important to him romantically and emotionally. So for the first time, we’ll get to see Bonnie trying to navigate the difficulties of a relationship,” Plec says. “It’s not about being a witch or having access to the power of a 100 witches, it’s about being a girl who loves a boy whose heart is a little bit torn in different directions. I think it will be nice for us to see Bonnie explore some good relationship stuff for a change instead of just being the witch on duty.”

‘Vampire Diaries’: Malese Jow talks season 3: Kat Graham’s new music video Continue reading on Examiner.com ‘Vampire Diaries’: Malese Jow talks season 3: Kat Graham’s new music video

Vampire Diaries season three will not hit Channel 6 in Tempe until September, but the stars are keeping busy during their off time before production begins on set in season three in July. On Friday, Wet Paint released some new information from Malese Jow about what her character might be. She returned to the series as Anna in the season finale. Also on Friday, Ten Gossip released a new music video featuring Katerina Graham. She plays Bonnie on the series. Check out the music video here.

When both Anna and Vicki returned in the season finale for Vampire Diaries, fans were shocked. Kayla Ewell has already revealed that she will be in at least three episodes next season, but Malese Jow's role in next season is a bit unclear for the actress. She is joining the cast while they make the rounds at conventions this summer. In fact, she is attending one this weekend in Nimes, France with Ian Somerhalder and others.

As for the possibilities for what Anna and Vicki are, Jow said that 'And an angel/spirit thing would be a great facet to the show, I think. I mean, I think they definitely portrayed vampires and werewolves in a non-cheesy, very convincing way. And I think if that’s a new part of the show, that they’ll make it really creepy and really cool and incorporate it really well. So, that’ll be great. And there’s always the option we could be resurrected for real.'

That last comment will have fans talks. Resurrections are not uncommon on Vampire Diaries. Elijah has returned a number of times already, but his return was explained by the removal of the dagger. Jeremy was brought back to life by the witches when Bonnie begged them to do. How could Anna and Vicki be resurrected? That would need to be explained in the proper way in order for fans to believe it.

As for Katherina Graham, not only is she an actress, but she also has a musical background as well. That musical background has landed her a part in a new music video by Kevin Hammond for his song Broken Down. This is the first single for Hammond, and having Kat Graham in the video has earned the artist some attention. His debut album will be released later this summer.

Gwyneth Paltrow delighted Glee fans on Wednesday night by making a surprise appearance with the cast onstage during their UK tour.

The Glee stars are currently taking their live stage show across Britain and on Wednesday they performed at London's O2 Arena.

Fans were given an extra special treat during the performance when Paltrow, who has performed on the hit series as substitute school teacher Holly Holliday, made a surprise appearance.

Naya Rivera, who plays Santana Lopez, announced to the audience that she had been named the sexiest Glee club member during the tour, when Paltrow strutted on stage and challenged her to a sing-off.

And Paltrow used the appearance to treat some young fans by taking them along to the show.

"Just took four 7 year olds to glee live london. Somebody pass me something vaguely hallucinogenic," she wrote on Twitter.com following her slot.
